Panel I: Environmental Perspectives

Alejandro Chambi,
Environmental Manager First Quantum
With over 14 years of experience in the mining and metals industry and over 20 years of professional experience. Alejandro’s primary focus throughout his career has been minimizing environmental and sustainability risks for leading mining companies, ensuring compliance with increasingly rigorous standards and regulations. He specializes in developing focused, actionable strategic action plans based on measured, integrated risk analysis.

Ilya de Marotta,,
Chief sustainability office at Canal de Panamá
She was appointed Panama Canal Deputy Administrator on February 15, 2019, and took office on January 1, 2020, marking history by being the first woman to hold this position. She is now leading sustainability operations at the Canal as they look to become a more environmentally friendly operation.

Ricardo Moreno,
Fundación Yaguará
He has dedicated more than 20 years of his career to the jaguars’ protection and to biodiversity conservation. To reduce the human-jaguar conflict, he started Yaguará Panama Foundation in 2006, a non-profit organization, to educate and work with people and communities that coexist with jaguars and develop environmentally sustainable economic activities such as ecotourism to help preserve the species and habitats.
Panel II: Economic and Finance Perspectives

Fabio Moreno,
Head of Budget and Planning & Management Accounting at Hutchison Ports,
He has has developed and automated financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and staff cost simulations. He improved cost tracking, raised internal audit scores, and achieved significant cost savings. Fabio also led offshoring initiatives in Latin America and provided key financial support during crises in Mexico and Brazil, driving both efficiency and productivity.

Lucia Meza,
Representative of CAF in Panama.
She has more than 30 years of professional experience related to the planning, financing and execution of infrastructure projects and accompanying programmes with international financial institutions. She joined CAF in 1993 and has held various
positions. From 2010 to present, she was Director of Projects, Northern Region in the Vice-Presidency of Infrastructure.

Michael Farrant,
CEO of Farrant Group
He has more than 20 years’ experience providing strategic communications advice and support to individuals, families and corporates, specialising in crisis management and media handling, litigation support, profile building, and management and political counsel. He holds a BA in Psychology from Harvard University. He is recognised as amongst the top 10 reputation managers in the Spear’s 500, and the Tatler Address Book for High-Net-Worth services.
